A still-evolving potter, Ms. Fenily has experimented with a variety of mediums, styles, and firing techniques. She continues to try new techniques and perfect old ones through classes and workshops and by working with Denny Howard of Sagamore, whom she considers a mentor.
Ms. Fenily grew up in New Jersey and moved to the Cape 30-plus years ago. “I always wanted to live by the ocean,” she said. Having taken classes and participated in open studio time at the Falmouth Artists Guild as far back as its tenure at the Falmouth Poor House, Ms. Fenily now has a studio in the spacious basement of her West Falmouth home, which she named Pax Hill Pottery: pax for peace, and hill because of where her home is situated. She even has what she calls her boiler room gallery where she can display her work, both for friends and so she can look back at different pieces and see their evolution.
In addition to the Artists Guild, Ms. Fenily has taken classes and workshops at Castle Hill for the Arts in Truro and the Rhode Island School of Design.
